If a patient is trying to banish troublesome spots of fat with diet and exercise but still can’t get rid of them, SmartLipo™ Triplex with Precision laser lipolysis and Cellulaze™ cellulite reduction may be an ideal option.

What is SmartLipo™?

SmartLipo™ is a unique laser treatment that disrupts pockets of fat below the skin to give you the shape you want. Cellulaze™ causes smoothing of the skin by attacking the underlying structures that cause cellulite. This new technology goes beyond traditional liposuction to not only treat bothersome areas of fat, but also tighten skin for an overall smoother look. The unique technology that drives the SmartLipo™ laser delivers the optimal blend of wavelengths for fat removal, tissue tightening, and safe results. SmartLipo™ is an in-office procedure performed under local anesthesia.

Who is a Good Candidate for SmartLipo™?

The most fitting candidates for SmartLipo™ or laser lipolysis are men and women who may have isolated areas of fat that are resistant to diet and exercise. Common areas are the love handles, saddlebags, inner thighs, buttocks, flabby upper arms, excess neck fat, or fat on the lower abdomen. The SmartLipo™ device that is used at Rothaus Plastic Surgery is known as the Triplex device, as it includes SmartLipo™, PrecisionTx™, and Cellulaze™. Used individually, they can treat areas of the body needing contouring and skin tightening (SmartLipo™), excess fat and skin laxity of the neck (PrecisionTx™), and cellulite (Cellulaze™).

What is the SmartLipo™ Treatment Like?

SmartLipo™ can be performed under tumescent anesthesia and usually does not require any sedation. As a result, you are awake but comfortable during your liposuction surgery. During the procedure, fat cells are directly targeted by the 1440 mm laser. Simultaneously, surrounding tissue tightens as a result of the thermal effect of the 1320 nm wavelength of the SmartLipo™ device, which contributes to a smoother shape overall. The third wavelength, 1064 nm, of the Triplex adds heat, which helps in the tightening of the skin and removal of the adipose tissue and also aids in hemostasis (reducing bruising). The procedure takes 1.5 to two hours, depending on the number of areas being treated and the size of each area.

How Long is the SmartLipo™ Recovery Time?

Following Smartlipo™, patients may experience some aches, much like after a physical workout. Downtime is minimal and most patients can return to their everyday activities within one to two days. The incision site will be very small so with proper care, any scars will be barely noticeable. Typically, only one treatment is required, but it is also dependent on the number of areas to be treated. You will begin to see results within a week and will notice continued improvement over a period of three to six months. In addition to a healthy diet, it is important to maintain an exercise regimen to enjoy lasting results from SmartLipo™.

Real Patient Testimonials

I worked with Dr. Rothaus and saw firsthand both his compassion for patients and his skill and artistry as a surgeon. He also performed surgery on me. Excellent results, no bruising, very minimal swelling, and no real post-operative pain – just some discomfort that was manageable with over-the-counter medication.
