What is an Upper and Lower Body Lift?
Carrying extra weight on your body not only develops new fat cells, but also reduces the elasticity in your skin. You may notice sagging skin and bulges that mask your contours. An upper and lower body lift removes the excess skin and fat to give you a more toned appearance. Dr. Rothaus may recommend a body lift after you have lost a large amount of weight.
What Are the Benefits of a Body Lift?
- Removes folds of skin
- Tightens the skin
- Eliminates pockets of stubborn fat
- May be combined with liposuction to refine the results
Who is a Good Candidate for a Body Lift?
Before you have a body lift, you should maintain your ideal weight for at least one year to reduce the likelihood of weight fluctuations that may create additional areas of fat and loose skin. You should also be in good health, and Dr. Rothaus will review your medical history, current medications, and any conditions that you are managing.
What is the Procedure for a Body Lift?
Dr. Rothaus may recommend an upper or lower body lift. The upper body lift focuses on:
- Upper arms
- Chest
- Upper back
- Breasts
The lower body lift may include:
- Buttocks
- Abdomen
- Thighs
- Love handles
- Lower back
Some patients benefit from an upper and lower body lift.
The surgery for a body lift requires lengthy incisions in some areas of the body, such as the upper arms and abdomen. After Dr. Rothaus makes the incisions, he removes any excess skin and fat before closing the incisions with sutures.
Real Patient Testimonials
Beautiful Work – Two and half weeks ago I had a face lift and Dr Rothaus did an amazing job! I had very little discomfort and very little bruising. I went to lunch with my sister in law one week after the surgery and she didn’t notice. When I told her she couldn’t believe how great I looked. Dr Rothaus is an artist and more importantly a wonderful man.
What is the Recovery like After a Body Lift?
Because a body lift involves several areas of the body, the recovery process can take some time. You may need to stay in the hospital one to two nights. Typically, patients are required to stay at home resting for up to three weeks. Your activities will be restricted for four to six weeks, and exercise can resume in six to eight weeks.
Expect to have some discomfort after your body lift, and Dr. Rothaus may prescribe pain medications. You may also have swelling and bruising.
Having someone at home to tend to daily tasks, such as taking medications and eating, helps you recover properly.
If you are having an upper and lower body lift, Dr. Rothaus may recommend two separate surgical appointments so that you can heal from the first procedure fully before having the second procedure.
