Juvéderm®in NYC

Juvéderm® and Juvéderm® Plus along with their related filler, Juvéderm® Voluma, are among the most popular injectable fillers used at our NYC and Westchester plastic surgery offices. Dr. Rothaus uses all of these fillers as viable options to treat wrinkles, creases, and folds and for adding volume, producing results that can last up to nine to 12 months

What is Juvéderm®?

Juvéderm® is comprised of hyaluronic acid, a natural and valuable component found in the skin that depletes as we age. Both Juvéderm® and Juvéderm® Plus add volume where this depletion is noticeable. Juvéderm® is primarily used for the correction of mild to moderate to facial wrinkles and folds. It is commonly injected around the mouth, nasolabial folds, lips, and judiciously along the infraorbital rim. Juvedérm® Plus is a slightly thicker, non-animal derived hyaluronic gel that is used for slightly deeper lines and wrinkles than Juvéderm® XC and Restylane®. Juvéderm® Plus is also commonly used for the restoration of volume.

What Is The Difference Between Juvéderm® Vollure And Juvéderm® Volbella?

Juvéderm® Vollure, and Juvéderm® Volbella are all fillers from the Juvéderm® family of products; however, they’re used to treat slightly different areas. Skin naturally loses elasticity as a byproduct of age-induced collagen depletion. This can cause wrinkles, fine lines, and drooping skin, and is especially noticeable in the face. Vollure is our go-to treatment for treating fine lines and wrinkles around the nose and mouth. Another unfortunate side-effect of aging is the thinning of the lips. For patients looking to regain the youthful appearance of their lips, we recommend Volbella. Juvéderm® Volbella decreases lip lines and subtly increases volume so that your lips look full and healthy again.

How is Juvéderm® administered?

Juvéderm® and Juvérderm® Plus injections are performed during an in-office appointment. Prior to receiving the injection, an assessment will be made as to where the injections will go, the best product to use, and the number of syringes that are needed to produce the desired results. During the appointment, the areas of the injection sites will be marked with a washable pencil. After the solution is injected with a soft cannula, the surgeon may massage the area so that the medication diffuses and spreads evenly. Cold compresses are then applied to help with swelling.

After a Juvéderm® treatment, patients can return to work, but strenuous activity or exercise should be avoided for that day. The injections sites will appear red and swollen, but this goes away within a couple of hours. Some patients may bruise, but this is also temporary and, in our experience, relatively rare with the use of the soft cannula. The visible results after the injections are noticed immediately. The results will last for about eight to 12 months before another round of injections are needed or desired.

Real Patient Testimonials

Dr Rothaus is TERRIFIC, professional in his demeanor, and a mensch! He runs on time, office is calm, relaxed and personable. He’s collaborative, not patronizing, nor does he tell you everything that is wrong and in need of fixing as is the practice of some plastic surgeons. He has done botox and Juvederm on me. He is conservative, taking care to achieve natural results . His staff is also great. There are 2 nurses who also do Botox and filler, Jill ( though I think on maternity leave) was my first intro to this practice. A makeup artist at Barneys recommended Jill. Sherry, is also equally skilled. These procedures, while common, are still just that: procedures and one should expect sensitivity as well as artistry. He also phone me the following day as I had some pain from lip filler. Dr Rothaus is stellar.
