Introduction to The Helix

The Helix laser is a dual-energy device that uses both 1570 and CO2 laser wavelengths to maximize skin rejuvenation. While the 1570 works deep within the skin to eliminate pigment and promote tightening, the CO2 laser resurfaces the superficial layer to improve texture, pore size and overall tone. Together these lasers work synergistically to result in an overall more youthful appearance and healthy glow.

What Are The Benefits of The Helix?

Combining two laser wavelengths that have different roles can offer several benefits for skin health. The 1570 wavelength works by creating micro-injuries deep in the skin to stimulate collagen production and promote skin renewal from within, addressing concerns like wrinkles, scars and hyperpigmentation. CoolPeel, on the other hand, utilizes a CO2 laser to gently exfoliate the outermost layer of the skin, improving texture, tone and overall radiance. By combining both treatments, you achieve comprehensive skin renewal, addressing both surface imperfections and deeper skin concerns.

Both lasers stimulate collagen production through different mechanisms, which leads to firmer, smoother and more youthful-looking skin over time. This also eliminates the need for use of multiple devices when we can use just the Helix to achieve amazing results in a single treatment session. The 1570 and CoolPeel settings can fire simultaneously which leads to a faster, more efficient procedure for the patient.

While both 1570 and CoolPeel deliver powerful results, they typically involve minimal downtime compared to more invasive procedures. Patients may experience some redness, swelling or mild discomfort post-treatment, but these side effects generally resolve within a few days to a week. The minimal downtime makes Helix a convenient option for individuals with busy lifestyles!

What Treatments Can Be Combined With The Helix?

The Helix is a versatile laser device that we often combine with other treatments to maximize results.

Helix + Virtue RF Microneedling

Achieve maximum skin tightening with this powerful combination! The procedure starts with Virtue RF microneedling, which causes tiny micro-injuries to the tissue and stimulates collagen production. The needles also deliver radiofrequency heat energy deep within the skin which results in significant skin tightening. This combined with Helix treats the skin at all different layers to tighten, improve sun damage and resurface the skin. This is a popular combination for surgical scars and stretch marks.

Helix + Hyperdilute Radiesse

Improve skin texture and laxity with this injectable and laser combo. We first inject hyperdilute Radiesse within the skin to help stimulate collagen production, improve uneven skin texture and encourage skin tightening. We then layer the Helix on top of this to further improve upon discoloration, fine lines and overall tone.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Can I Expect During a Helix Procedure?

Every Helix appointment begins with a thorough consultation with your provider. You will discuss your main skin concerns and can explore all options and medspa treatments available to you. We then cleanse the skin and apply topical numbing cream to minimize any potential discomfort. During the treatment you may experience sensations of heat or tingling, which depends on pain tolerance and energy level selected. The duration of the procedure depends on the size of the treatment area and takes anywhere from 15-30 minutes. After the treatment, we apply a microcurrent mask to help soothe the skin. Your skin may appear pink similar to a mild sunburn, which subsides within a few hours to a few days.

Is There Any Downtime After a Helix Laser Treatment?

The benefits of having a Helix treatment is that there is little to no downtime. Each treatment is completely customizable to the individual patient, so the higher the energy level the more downtime you can expect. On average, the skin appears pink or red for around 2-3 days. There is also a chance of swelling, depending upon how sensitive your skin is. You will be provided with post-care instructions which may include applying moisturizer, avoiding sun exposure and sleeping with your head elevated.

How Much Does a Helix Treatment Cost?

The price of a Helix treatment depends upon how many areas are being treated. Some common starting prices include: Full face: $1,500, Full face and neck: $1,800, Full face, neck and decollete: $2,100

Who Is a Candidate for the Helix?

Candidates for the Helix are those who seek to address various skin concerns such as sun damage, uneven skin texture, dullness, and skin laxity. Candidates should also be in good health and free from any conditions that may interfere with the healing process.

How Many Helix Treatments Will I Need?

We recommend a series of 3 treatments spaced out 4 weeks apart for maximum results.

Are Helix Treatments Painful?

The Helix is a well-tolerated procedure with patients experiencing minimal to no pain since we numb the treatment area with topical anesthetic. We also use a chiller that blows cold air onto the skin to further provide pain management.

When Will I See Results from the Helix?

It takes around 4-6 weeks after a Helix treatment to start seeing results. Maximum results can be seen after the third treatment in the series.
