What is Dysport®?
Similar to the well-known Botox®, Dysport® is an FDA-approved injectable neurotoxin that seeks to treat moderate to severe frown lines and creases between the brows. Dysport® is proven to create a smoother and softer face without causing it to “freeze.” In just a 10 to 20 minute treatment, Dr. Rothaus is able to change the overall aesthetic of the face to its former, youthful disposition. Typically lasting four to six months, our patients eagerly return for additional treatment.
How is Dysport® Administered?
Dysport® is administered during an in-office appointment that generally lasts about 15 to 30 minutes. The medication is injected through a small needle to identified areas on the face that are marked with a washable cosmetic pencil prior to injection. To help control discomfort, a numbing anesthetic is only rarely applied, and cold compresses are used afterwards to help minimize any bruising and swelling. The amount and pattern of medicine injected varies by patient as some individuals will have fewer deeper, broader wrinkles while others will have multiple, fine lines to address.
What is Recovery like After Dysport® Treatment?
After treatment, there will be some mild redness and swelling, but this goes away within a couple of hours. One difference between Botox® and Dysport® is that the results from a Dysport® injection will become visible slightly sooner, usually within only a couple of days.
