What is Juvéderm® Voluma®?
Voluma® XC is a relatively new hyaluronic that is approved for augmentation of the cheek area and as a slight mid-face lift. It is different from the other hyaluronics in the Allergan family not only in the lifting effect, but also in the fact that it lasts approximately two years.
How Does Voluma® Work?
Voluma® treatments usually take about 15 to 30 minutes, but the time can vary based on the needs and goals of the patient. Voluma® is injected using a soft cannula that results in much less discomfort and little to no bruising. Lidocaine, a local anesthetic, is mixed with the Voluma® in the syringe to help reduce discomfort in the treated areas. Patients will be able to see some results immediately. Patients can resume normal activities as soon as they feel able, but strenuous activity should be avoided for at least one day.
How Long Do the Results of Voluma® Last?
Many patients prefer Voluma® over other dermal fillers since it offers the longest lasting results, usually up to two years. The plastic surgeon will discuss ways that the patient can care for their face immediately after the treatment and what they can do to augment their results using other fillers, laser treatments, and other procedures.
