What is the Aura Laser?

The Aura laser is a 532nm KTP laser located in our White Plains location that targets excess melanin and hemoglobin responsible for irregular pigmentation and hemoglobin in vascular lesions on the skin. When the laser energy is absorbed by these lesions, they are heated and safely destroyed without damaging the surrounding skin. Heat also stimulates collagen production beneath the skin to resurface new, healthy skin cells for a more youthful complexion.

Your Consultation

Before your Aura laser treatment, a physical examination will be performed to assess your skin type and specific skin concerns that you hope to treat. A thorough discussion of your goals and medical history will help us develop the best treatment plan to rejuvenate your skin safely and effectively.

What are the Benefits of the Aura Laser?

The Aura laser can treat many types of hyperpigmentation, including brown spots, age spots, and sun damage. It also effectively targets rosacea and vascular lesions like broken capillaries and spider veins. Additionally, this is a non-invasive procedure, making it a great alternative to other forms of vascular vein treatment.

What is the Procedure Like?

Most patients find the Aura laser to be a comfortable, nonpainful treatment. However, a topical anesthetic can be applied 30 minutes before treatment if desired. The entire procedure takes about 30 minutes and will be completed with a soothing cream or mask. Multiple treatments may be necessary to achieve optimal results.

What is Recovery Like?

There is no downtime after Aura laser skin resurfacing. Mild redness, darkening and tenderness to the touch may occur but will improve within a few days. We recommend patients avoid sun exposure and wear a broad-spectrum SPF after treatment to prevent post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Keeping your skin protected from the sun will also maintain clear, unblemished skin.

How Much Does it Cost?

The cost of Aura laser treatments varies depending on the size of the treatment area and how many procedures are needed. After your consultation, we will be able to provide a more accurate cost estimate. We also encourage you to check out our financing options for affordable treatment.

Real Patient Testimonials

Not only is Dr. Rothaus incredibly experienced, he is also incredibly personable. To echo a previous review here, “He’s collaborative, not patronizing.” It’s so refreshing to have a doctor who is not only amazing at what he does, but also has your best interests at heart — not just trying to up-sell you a service or higher units (in the case of Botox and me!). I highly recommend him for Botox and while I can’t speak to other procedures, I’d certainly check into his work: his practice, knowledge and personality have gained my trust.
