Today, men and women who desire skin tightening, but do not want surgery, may be good candidates for non-surgical techniques. Manhattan cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Kenneth Rothaus, offers patients varying options for non-surgical skin tightening that helps target loose skin and wrinkles on the face and neck, as well as other areas of the body including the abdomen, arms, and thighs.

RF Skin Tightening in NYCRadio frequency (RF) skin tightening, also called fractional RF resurfacing, is considered one of the greatest breakthroughs for the anti-aging market. This procedure uses RF energy heat technology to tighten the skin, by heating the deep layers under the skin to stimulate collagen, which smooths the skin’s surface. It is appropriate for individuals in their 30s to 50s and is suitable for most skin types and colors.

Dr. Rothaus has invested time and money in researching the latest advancements in this progressive approach for skin care so that our patients have options depending on their aesthetic goals. During the initial consultation, Dr. Rothaus will evaluate your skin and listen to your concerns, and then make the appropriate recommendation that will garner the most optimal results. Our New York City office is proud to offer patients the EndyMed™ 3Deep, Thermi250™, and Pellevé nonsurgical RF skin tightening technologies.

Am I a Candidate?

Individuals who do not want to undergo a surgical procedure such as a facelift, but still hope to slow the visible signs of aging may benefit from ThermiTight®, a radiofrequency skin rejuvenation procedure. The RF procedure can improve loose skin and wrinkles and is often combined with liposuction and/or a thread procedure. It is certainly not a weight loss procedure and, in fact, should be done as close as reasonable or possible to the patient’s ideal weight. Patients with excessive loose or sagging skin are not candidates for a minimally invasive RF procedure and should consult with Dr. Rothaus about a facelift or body contouring procedure.

Type of Skin Tightening

There are several types of technology that are used today for non-surgical skin tightening. This includes ultrasound, radiofrequency, thermal heat, and intense pulsed light treatments. Our NYC cosmetic surgery office offers numerous ways to achieve the desired results.

Radiofrequency skin tightening targets the specific problem area and uses thermal energy to heat the deep layers of the skin without affecting the outer layer or surrounding tissue. The heat triggers the body’s wound healing process, which increases the body’s collagen production and creates firmer, tighter skin.

Our RF Devices

Our office is proud to offer EndyMed™ 3Deep, Thermi250™, and Pellevé. All three devices uses radiofrequency energy to achieve gorgeous results.

  • EndyMed

EndyMed™ 3Deep technology is a multi-source, phase-controlled, RF-based skin treatment. Using the body tightening hand-held device, this sophisticated software delivers controlled phases of energy, which heats deep into the skin to penetrate the underlying areas without disrupting nearby tissue. This improves skin laxity and is great for smaller areas on the body such as the neck, arms, and knees.

  • Thermi250

The Thermi250™ is a very high power, promising, monopolar RF device and is currently undergoing IRB (Institutional Review Board) clinical trials at many centers including our own. It has already been FDA-approved to treat cellulite, and has had very promising results treating other skin conditions.

  • Pellevé

The Pellevé is a monopolar RF device which we predominantly use in our practice for facial and neck rejuvenation. The Pellevé is a favorite among our nurses, as it has some very small handpieces which are easy to use and give very nice results for rejuvenation above the brow and in the periorbital region. However, with its larger handpieces, it can be used on the body as well.

During/After the Procedure

All non-surgical skin tightening treatments take place in our Manhattan cosmetic surgery office. The process, depending on the technology used, typically takes about an hour. The EndyMed™ Intensif RF microneedle procedure is performed using a topical anesthesia, while the ThermiTight® minimally invasive RF procedure is performed under a local anesthesia. In most cases, patients find any discomfort after the procedure to be mild and tolerable. Many times, results are noticeable right after the very first treatment, but it is common to undergo several treatment sessions to attain the most optimal results. This really depends on the size of the area being treated, as well as the overall laxity of the skin and the personal goals of the patient. Non-surgical skin tightening uses advanced technology that works long after the treatment session is over. Patients can repeat the treatment process per the instructions or advice of Dr. Rothaus.
