Juvederm and Juvederm Plus along with their related filler, Voluma, are among the most popular injectable fillers used at our Manhattan and Westchester plastic surgery offices. Comprised of hyaluronic acid, a natural and valuable component found in the skin that depletes as we age, Juvederm and Juvederm Plus add volume where this depletion is noticeable. Juvederm is primarily used for the correction of mild to moderate to facial wrinkles and folds, It is commonly injected around the mouth, nasolabial folds, lips, and judiciously along the infraorbital rim. Juvederm Plus is a slightly thicker non-animal derived hyaluronic gels that is used for slightly deeper lines and wrinkles than Juvederm XC and Restylane. Juvederm Plus is also commonly used for the restoration of volume. Dr. Rothaus uses all of these fillers as viable options to treat wrinkles, creases, and folds and for adding volume, producing results that can last up to 9 to 12 months,

What To Expect

Juvederm and Juverderm Plus injections are performed during an in-office appointment. Prior to receiving the injection, an assessment will be made as to where the injections will go, the best product to use, and the number of syringes that are needed to produce the desired results. During the appointment, the areas of the injection sites will be marked with a washable pencil. After the solution is injected with a soft cannulae, the surgeon may massage the area so that the medication diffuses and spreads evenly. Cold compresses are then applied to help with swelling.

After Treatment

After a Juvederm treatment, patients can return to work, but strenuous activity or exercise should be avoided for that day. The injections sites will appear red and swollen, but this goes away within a couple of hours. Some patients may bruise, but this is also temporary and in our experience relatively rare with the use of the soft cannulae. The visible results after the injections are noticed immediately. The results will last for about 8-12 months before another round of injections are needed or desired.

Look Younger Today!

Fillers, such as Juvederm, are a fantastic way to turn back the hands of time, adding volume to the face and creating a smooth and softer facial appearance. Our plastic surgery office offers three types of Juvederm: Juvederm XC, which treats mild to moderate wrinkles around the mouth and nose, Juverderm XC Plus which treats moderate to severe wrinkles and restores volume  and Juvederm Voluma XC, which is typically used to add volume to the cheeks. During the initial consultation, we will discuss all three products and provide a thorough skin assessment so that we can tailor the best treatment to meet your aesthetic goals.
