Introducing our new non-invasive skin lifting device: Sofwave
There are several ultrasound-based skin-tightening devices currently available. Each one takes a different approach to delivering ultrasound energy, which impacts the level of comfort as well as results. Here’s a breakdown of the process, types, and the pros and cons of popular devices:
The Ultherapy device, commonly referred to as Ulthera, delivers highly focused ultrasound energy at specific depths in the skin, reaching down to 1.5mm, 3mm, and even 4.5mm, targeting the deep dermis and the superficial muscular aponeurotic system (SMAS) layer.
The advantage of this approach is that it can treat the skin as well as deeper tissues. The treatment, however, can be quite uncomfortable and there have been reports of undesirable sequelae associated with the deeper treatments.
Sofwave was introduced to the aesthetic market more than 5 years ago and uses a synchronous parallel beam technology to heat the skin’s dermis, boosting collagen and elastin while keeping the outer epidermis safe. The percentage of the dermis that is treated is much greater than seen with competing devices or even other technologies. The treatment is relatively comfortable and has minimal to no downtime.
We chose the Sofwave device to offer to our patients not only for its efficacy, but also for its comfort and safety profile. In addition, we are pleased to be able to use the ultrasound energy to treat all patients regardless of their skin type throughout the year both on and off the face. In addition, we believe that we can augment our minimally invasive and non-invasive skin tightening procedures by combining them with the Sofwave treatment.
