Breast lift surgery, or mastopexy, is a procedure that can help women whose breasts have fallen and lost their shape. This includes nipple position being close to or at the bottom of the breast. This procedure is especially helpful to women that have experienced pregnancy or weight loss and find their breasts lacking substance and firmness. During the breast lift procedure, excess breast skin is removed to raise, reshape, and firm your breasts. The nipples and areolas are repositioned, and the areolas sometimes may be reduced in size. This procedure is most commonly done as an out-patient under a local anesthesia with iv sedation by a board certified anesthesiologist. The breast lift procedure can be performed alone, but it is often done in conjunction with breast augmentation in order to increase breast volume.
